Poland is to receive an additional 119 Leopard 2 main battle tanks, plus around 220 additional vehicles and equipment, under a contract signed with Germany on 22 November.
Worth EUR187 million (USD253 million), the contract was signed by Polish Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak and his German counterpart Thomas de Maizière in Poznan, Poland, and provides for the transfer of the vehicles from ex-German stocks.
The order covers 105 Leopard 2A5 and 14 Leopard 2A4 MBTS, plus related vehicles to fully equip an armoured brigade, including: 18 Bergepanzer 2 armoured recovery vehicles (ARVs), 120 Daimler-Benz DB 1017 A 4x4 medium trucks, 40 Unimog U 1300/L 4x4 light trucks and 40 Mercedes-Benz MB 250 4x4 light all-terrain vehicles.
